Happy Friday! This week’s Photo Friday feature highlights one of the natural beauties of New Mexico: lavender.
Lavender: the Purple Beauty
This gorgeous purple flower is well known throughout the region, flourishing against the adobe buildings and Taos’s iconic blue doors. In fact, Abiquiu even has a lavender farm with demonstrations of the distillation process, a zen nursery, and tea garden. You can even wander through the gorgeous waves of purple flowers and pick your own flowers. When one thinks of the desert, one often thinks of nothing but dirt and cacti. While the desert does heavily feature these items, there is so much more variance to enjoy, such as the lavender that provides a brilliant pop of purple against the desert backdrop.
Did we mention that this particular flower farm is in Abiquiu? Incidentally, we now offer an artist tour of Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch, the famed former home of Georgia O’Keefe.
