Feeling that void in your life since Game of Thrones ended? Us, too. However, Meow Wolf has something that might sate your need for Game of Thrones while we anxiously wait for George R.R. Martin to finish the next book.

Game of Thrones George R.R. Martin Meow Wolf

Tick tock, George!

Game of Thrones Meets Fun House

In the meantime, Meow Wolf created an immersive and interactive experiences that transport audiences of all ages into fantastic realms of story and exploration. This experience includes art installations, video and music production, and extended reality content.

This is the first permanent installation, the THEA Award-winning House of Eternal Return, launched in March 2016 with support from Game of Thrones creator and Santa Fe resident, George R.R. Martin. Inside, guests discover a multidimensional mystery house with secret passages, portals to magical worlds, and an expansive narrative amidst surreal, maximalist, and mesmerizing art exhibits. Located in Santa Fe, HOER features a children’s learning center, a cafe and bar, and a highly-rated music venue. Martin financed the purchase of a permanent home for Meow Wolf–an out-of-business bowling alley that has transformed into a one-of-a-kind experience.

Meow Wolf: an Interactive Experience

From the enormous spider, Robot, and wolf sculptures which greet you in the parking lot, to the Bowling Alley entrance signs remaining in place, the experience requires you to slowly shift gravity to go a bit off-kilter. You do not have a guide. There are no signals on how to experience where you are, what you are doing. You must travel through space while lost…fantastic fun! You enter a dark passageway, open a door, and enter an environment full of questions.

Inside, a full-scale Victorian house invites you to wander through its rooms, and try to put together a story.  Who lives here and what happened?  Videos appear on the dining room pictures, the bathroom is an optical puzzle, and the children’s bedrooms are littered with toys, diaries-to-be-snooped into, family portraits on the wall. In the kitchen, the refrigerator suddenly opens and a little girl pops through, followed by two friends. There is a passage-way here, as well as through the fire place in the living room–into yet another world.  Just one more of many for visitors to delight.
